Hidden Sources
For those who have searched “everywhere,” here are dozens of new places to look for clues and stories. This presentation discusses and shows examples of such topics as almshouse records, apprenticeships, artifacts, little-known archives collections, obscure court records, company and organization records, and passports. From A-Z, there are records waiting to be discovered.

Dead Men Do Tell Tales
Once you have an idea of when and where an individual lived, you’ll find that there is an amazing array of death-related records capable of providing incredible details about his or her life. Beyond the commonly-used death certificates and cemetery there’s an often-hidden treasure trove of information to be investigated. This presentation is designed to explore dozens of them.

Loretto Dennis Szucs

Loretto ("Lou") is co-editor of The Source; author of Chicago and Cook County: A Guide to Research; They Became Americans: Finding Naturalization Records and Ethnic Origins; and several other books. She has served on a number of genealogical society boards and is presently serving on the Federation of Genealogical Societies Board. Previously employed by the National Archives, she is vice president of publications for Ancestry.com.

More Details

All early bird and regular registrations include:
lunch, entrance to all four lectures, and access to the vendor hall. You choose if you want the electronic syllabus or if you want to pay extra for a printed sylllabus.

Late registrations are not guaranteed lunch and only receive a printed syllabus so register early!

Parking & Transportation
There is plenty of free parking at the Springfield Hilton.  Look for the big blue Hilton sign on Loisdale Rd. to indicate the driveway leading to the parking lot.  NEW!  We are now Metro accessible.  Shuttle service will be provided from the Franconia-Springfield Station (Blue Line).
Volunteers will be available at the station to help attendees catch the shuttle whether arriving by bus or train.  Please let us know if you plan on using the shuttle so we can contact you with further details.
Deadlines
Regular registrations must be received by Oct. 21st.  A printed syllabus is included for late/walk-in registrations.
Confirmations
Confirmations will be e-mailed for registrations received in person or by post by October 21st. All online registrations will receive confirmations.  E-mail FallFair@fxgs.org if you do not receive your confirmation.
Refunds
Full refunds are available through October 21st.  After Oct. 21st refunds are only available if minimum registration is met. Please contact FallFair@fxgs.org for a refund or with questions.
Arrival
Check-in/registration begins at 8 a.m.  Please arrive early enough to check-in/register and pick up your syllabus so we may begin promptly at 9:00.  Vendors open at 8 a.m.
Lunch
A boxed lunch (sandwich, side, and drink) is included for registrations received by Thursday, October 21st.  Registrations after this date include lunch if available.
